The Alamo

The Alamo is one of the most prominent historical landmarks in the United States and a must-see destination for anybody visiting New Braunfels. The Alamo was part of the mission station established here in 1718, and its church was built by Franciscans in 1744.
Visitors can take a guided battlefield tour, hire a self-guided audio tour, see the ancient Alamo Church and Long Barrack Museum, listen to a history lesson provided by an Alamo Interpreter, and do a variety of other activities.

This lovely, historic mission was established in 1720 and named after Saint Joseph and the Marqués de San Miguel de Aguayo, the governor of Coahuila and Texas at the time. Unfortunately, the mission underwent a long period of steady decline following the 1833 Mexican secularization act.

This small, tidy, and well-kept zoo is open 365 days a year, so there’s always time to visit! The 35-acre zoo houses an incredible collection of 3,500 animals representing 750 species. It is small enough to see everything in around 2 hours but huge enough to keep everyone interested with interactive displays like Africa Live!
The Parrots Nest, where you can feed the birds nectar from a cup in your hand, is a true Wild Fun Farm. There is also a nice train that circles the zoo.
